[00:00:40] Speaker B: So we used to. To have all the bands from Elfes to. To ask them how they met metal or heavy music or like more alternative. Yeah. Do you remember the first time you had this kind of music in your ear and you said, oh, I want to do it or you exciting.
[00:00:58] Speaker A: Well, it was my parents. They listened to like Led Zeppelin and you know, Deep Purple and Nazareth and Iron Butterfly.
[00:01:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:01:06] Speaker C: But me, it was a FM radio mostly, but I remember I would hear a band that I liked. I think the first one that really caught my attention was Ted Nugent. But then the first rock record I think I bought was Led Zeppelin in through the outdoor. And then I bought. I remember I bought a Molly Hatchet record just because of the album cover.
[00:01:29] Speaker B: You used to say that everybody just used like this before, you know, not
[00:01:33] Speaker D: today when we're kids. Like, okay, I want this one. Yeah. I'm scared sometimes it's a good surprise sometime.
[00:01:40] Speaker A: It was like the Meatloaf album. I remember seeing that and I'm like, oh, this is going to be good. And I'm listening.
[00:01:45] Speaker C: Like that was a disappointment.
[00:01:46] Speaker A: God, this album's not that good.
But you know, I was like, I don't know, seven or something. So I didn't know about love and heartbreak.
[00:01:55] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Oh yeah.
[00:01:56] Speaker A: What the hell he was singing about?
[00:01:58] Speaker B: What the is that?
[00:02:00] Speaker C: Yeah, but for the same reason I bought an ELO record and Boston because I like space and aliens and stuff. And those were actually good.
[00:02:08] Speaker A: But the Boston delivered.
[00:02:10] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:02:11] Speaker A: Like so many guitar solos, you're like, oh yeah.
[00:02:14] Speaker B: Can go in space.
So today you're here in Hellfest and with all your career, you see a lot of festivals. I think so a lot of places. Since all those times you see the changes about the industry and how festivals doing things. How do you take a look at it today? What do you think about the changes?
[00:02:33] Speaker A: And all those things are more organized.
[00:02:37] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:02:38] Speaker A: And things are, you know, like everything's nicer.
So that's. That's good.
[00:02:43] Speaker B: It was really roots before.
I don't. I remember when I was 17 was roots, but I was not in the. The VIP area, so.
[00:02:52] Speaker A: But you're also Here just to see the bands.
[00:02:55] Speaker B: Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah.
[00:02:58] Speaker C: So there's all different range of types of festivals. I mean, we've played some trailer park festivals up to, you know, big things like this, so.
[00:03:08] Speaker B: So you see everything.
[00:03:10] Speaker C: Some of, you know, some festivals don't really qualify as festivals. We call them Festivas.
[00:03:19] Speaker D: Do you have any preference?
Because sometimes we don't expect something to happen in like a. A little shitty place and the. The gig can be great and sometime in the big festival you're like, oh, it's going to be amazing. It sucks.
[00:03:34] Speaker C: Do you.
[00:03:34] Speaker D: Do you still have this or do you have any favorite place to play?
[00:03:38] Speaker A: Well, I like the punk rock holiday because it's got that river.
So you can go swimming. Yeah. Really, you know, you can do. You can do a bunch of stuff before you play.
And a lot of them like this. You're kind of out in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing really to do.
[00:03:55] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:03:56] Speaker A: You know, it's nice and warm. Yeah.
AC is never, you know, anywhere.
[00:04:04] Speaker B: So you see, you still have the same way of taking a look at the job you have.
I said job. Doing music.
[00:04:15] Speaker D: They don't like it.
[00:04:19] Speaker B: Young people like kids, you know, we are quite old and we did this job since a long time, but we still have the same way of thinking.
Yeah, we're still having fun going out in the pit. Yeah.
[00:04:32] Speaker A: Hell no.
[00:04:33] Speaker B: You know, we break my.
[00:04:37] Speaker D: We need to take care of our hips.
[00:04:41] Speaker B: So you still kids?
[00:04:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
Do I have kids?
[00:04:45] Speaker B: No.
[00:04:46] Speaker D: Do you still feel like kids when you're on stage?
[00:04:49] Speaker A: Yeah, but.
[00:04:49] Speaker D: And the way of doing the.
[00:04:51] Speaker A: Well, my. My brain thinks I'm a kid and then my body reminds me that I'm an old man.
[00:04:57] Speaker B: Of course, if you steal kids in your mind, it's okay. It means you will always. Doing this, doing this.
[00:05:03] Speaker A: It sounds a little weird.
I don't see kids in my mind.
[00:05:12] Speaker D: Good to know.
That's the limit of the. When our English is not that good,
[00:05:22] Speaker B: it's like, what do you want to say?
So what do you think about new punk bands and new punk situation?
[00:05:34] Speaker D: Do you listen to any of it?
[00:05:36] Speaker A: Some of them are cool, but a lot of them are.
I don't know. I like guitar work. So.
[00:05:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:05:44] Speaker A: When it's just three chords over and over again, you know, I think you guys could work on that a little bit.
[00:05:52] Speaker D: Add the fourth one.
[00:05:53] Speaker A: But that's what people want, you know.
[00:05:55] Speaker C: Add a fourth chord. Yeah, yeah.
[00:06:00] Speaker A: It's just things go in waves, you know, and it's. It's back to that, I guess. More garage. Yeah. Raw, like.
[00:06:07] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:06:09] Speaker A: So some of them I like, some of them I don't.
[00:06:13] Speaker D: There's a big. I feel like there's a big comeback of the punk scene this last few years. How do you feel it? How do you.
How do you work with it? Is it nice? Is it. I guess you. You must have a lot of bands that come back and say how much you influence them since a long time.
[00:06:32] Speaker C: Do hear that? I mean, we just. We're playing a lot last year, this year, probably next year. I mean, more than we have in previous years. So it's. It's. It's good for us. I mean, I like guitar music, and if when guitar music starts to get unpopular, it always comes back for some reason.
[00:06:51] Speaker B: There's a cycle. Yeah.
[00:06:53] Speaker D: And is it a good thing that you have to play so much or you wish you could stay at home a little bit more?
[00:06:59] Speaker A: I like playing.
[00:07:00] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:07:01] Speaker A: Anywhere.
[00:07:04] Speaker B: This is funk.
[00:07:05] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:05] Speaker B: So you choose this music for.
For this kind of thing. Just doing music, doing loud music, just fun.
[00:07:14] Speaker A: Well, I like fast music too, so.
[00:07:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:16] Speaker A: Yeah. That's kind of how the band evolved.
[00:07:21] Speaker B: So you choose this music. Do you remember you said, okay, I want to have a band? And do you remember that time and say, this is a good idea?
[00:07:30] Speaker C: I don't think anyone ever said it was a good idea.
[00:07:34] Speaker D: But they were cutting this, you know,
[00:07:36] Speaker B: because we use this to ask, well, do you remember what your parents thinking about this?
And everybody said, oh, they were.
They're not alone.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Yeah. My mom was like, you need to stop doing that and focus on getting a good job.
[00:07:51] Speaker C: My mom let us practice in our. In my bedrooms.
[00:07:54] Speaker D: That's cool.
[00:07:55] Speaker C: Cool.
[00:07:55] Speaker B: Nice. This is Chance.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: She was a supportive mom.
Why not so supportive?
[00:08:02] Speaker B: This is a good time.
[00:08:03] Speaker A: I felt good, like later on, you know, we'd been doing it 30 years, you know, it came to Europe a bunch of times, and I was like, so remember, mom, when you told me to get a real job, Take a look at it.
[00:08:15] Speaker B: Europe is mine, so good luck to you, too.
[00:08:19] Speaker D: A lot.
[00:08:20] Speaker B: You maybe work on new things.
[00:08:24] Speaker C: We're supposed to. We're supposed to be next year working on new recording.
[00:08:28] Speaker B: Oh, really? So exciting about this. You already have some things and you used to work on.
[00:08:34] Speaker C: Exactly. We haven't started yet. You've been really busy traveling.
[00:08:38] Speaker A: There's talk about it, but.
[00:08:41] Speaker B: No, it's. It's already good.
[00:08:45] Speaker D: What is it like for you to work on the new album? Is it like having ideas and then you. You get together and it's like in a few days, you. You put everything down. Oh, it takes a lot of time.
[00:09:00] Speaker A: No, it's usually demoed. And then we learn the songs and then change what we want.
And then the singer guy comes in the end and puts lyrics over everything and ruins it all.
[00:09:13] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:09:14] Speaker A: No, no, he.
It's. It's tough for us. Cause he. He just always holds out on the lyrics.
And I would like to know what. You know what I mean? The melodies are going to be before the end.
[00:09:25] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:09:27] Speaker A: It can help with the guitar work.
[00:09:32] Speaker B: So.
So everybody will be happy to have you again. You just talking about this new album, but you don't have the IDs already.

[00:09:55] Speaker B: Do you have a really nice memory of your career?

[00:10:01] Speaker B: The one you have directly when I asked you. A good memory of your career.
[00:10:09] Speaker A: A memory of our career, like the greatest one.
[00:10:12] Speaker B: Yeah.

[00:10:16] Speaker C: I can't think of anything.

[00:10:19] Speaker A: You don't remember anything getting left at Dover by the bus?

[00:10:24] Speaker A: After telling him I had to use the bathroom and I was in my, like, pajamas with no money.

[00:10:32] Speaker A: So I had to pretty much like, shake down a guy for money to call.
Call the bus.
[00:10:38] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:10:38] Speaker A: He was someone who was laughing at me.
[00:10:43] Speaker B: That's a. That's a good one. That's a good one.
[00:10:45] Speaker D: All this for this.
[00:10:49] Speaker A: But the poor bus. When you leave there, there's nowhere to turn around.
[00:10:53] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:10:54] Speaker A: So they had to go quite far before they were able to turn around and then come back to get me.
Oh, shit.
[00:11:00] Speaker D: Nightmare.
Was it at the time where the cell phone,
[00:11:07] Speaker A: they kind of existed, but everyone.
[00:11:09] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:11:09] Speaker A: I didn't have one on me, of course.
[00:11:12] Speaker B: Nothing.
Such an anecdote.
