Show Notes

PAPA ROACH, quel groupe, quelle gentillesse !

Bonne écoute !

[00:00:01] Speaker A: Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. [00:00:21] Speaker B: How are you? [00:00:22] Speaker A: Great. [00:00:23] Speaker B: Warm. [00:00:25] Speaker A: It's hot in here. Yeah, no, it feels good, though. First day of the festival, we're gonna rip it up. There's a couple bands I'm gonna go check out, you know. Yeah. Bring me the Horizon. It's Deep Purple, which. I remember listening to that when I was a kid. [00:00:40] Speaker B: Like a large spectrum. [00:00:43] Speaker A: It's all over the place. That's what's great about this festival. We've done it probably three or four times already, you know. Lots of good memories. [00:00:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Is that the. Is the elfest different from the other ones? [00:00:54] Speaker A: It sticks out for sure. It's like. I think it's the most like metal. [00:00:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:59] Speaker A: It has the most fire, for sure. You know, it's fire everywhere. And like last time we did the festival, I went to go see Rancid and they played like on this. This other area that looked like it was just perfect, like the whole setting. [00:01:14] Speaker B: Yeah, with. With. [00:01:16] Speaker A: It was like they were. It was like you were watching like a. You know, one of the best punk rock bands in like a prison or something. It was cool. [00:01:23] Speaker B: We used to say that we can stay kids over here because it's like Disneyland. Buffalo metal. [00:01:28] Speaker A: Yeah, it is. Yeah, that's Disneyland and metal, for sure. It's a good way to describe it. [00:01:33] Speaker B: So you will play her here, but you will be at the Adidas are now. What was that Adidas? Adidas arena in December. So it's the biggest place. It's the biggest moment for Pavarach in France. [00:01:46] Speaker A: Sure, we're ready. So I mean, we're. Well, actually we're not ready because we're like. The goal for that show is to kind of create a whole new thing from like what we've been doing for the past two or, you know, three years. And we were just talking about it earlier today, like, we need to get moving on this dude. So. But we got new music. [00:02:11] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:02:11] Speaker A: So we'll have some new music come in. Maybe a new record. If we get it. If we get everything kind of done in time. [00:02:17] Speaker B: So you already rocked on it. [00:02:19] Speaker A: It's not finished yet, but we're hoping definitely, if it doesn't come out this year, it's going to come out next year. [00:02:26] Speaker B: Soon. [00:02:27] Speaker A: Soon. Soon enough. [00:02:29] Speaker B: Do you feel that doing live music with metal music, it's like a powerful thing for people and for you, for health, mental health, physically and mentally? [00:02:40] Speaker A: Yeah, definitely. There's a physical aspect and the mental aspect. Especially with us, with our music, we just Seem to have a pretty, like, special connection, you know, with our fans through. Through the message, if you will. And then I think it comes out in the performance, you know, and. Yeah, I mean, definitely. And there's something. I think there really is something special about, like, the physical side of what you're doing. It helps you mentally, like, whether it's, like, working out, you know, like, being outside and, like, feeling the sun, you know, or like, literally just banging your head and going as hard as you can in the pit. Like, I think you feel better after you get all of that out. You know what I mean? [00:03:22] Speaker B: And when you're with the same people that you. It's like feeling free to be yourself. So it's better for mental health. [00:03:29] Speaker A: Yeah, everyone should be free. Like, just like, we're like, we. That's how we feel when we're on stage, you know what I mean? And everybody in the crowd, it's just like, regardless of, you know, your. Your differences, you know, of opinions or lifestyles or anything, it's just. Everybody is just kind of. It's like. That's the best feeling, honestly. It's like this universal, like, connection that's just happening something really strange. It's really. Yeah, it's hard to explain. You can't put it into words. It's just like. Just this, like, aura vibrations and. [00:04:03] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:04:03] Speaker A: It sounds really spiritual, huh? [00:04:08] Speaker C: This thing of with the audience connecting to the band and all one. All. Everybody feeling together. Papa Roach is here. Has been there for a long time and still here and can connect with people from our generation that we were listening to it when we were. [00:04:28] Speaker B: We're still young [00:04:32] Speaker C: and. And the band keeps connecting with younger people. [00:04:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:36] Speaker C: With new songs and old songs. What do you think makes it possible? [00:04:41] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I don't. I don't know, but we are very lucky. And I think we are in a special place where, like, I do notice that for a band, like, there's a lot of other bands that come up the same time that we did, and they don't make. They don't release new music, you know, and if they do, it doesn't really seem to connect, you know, but for us, we get a really good feedback from fans and we get new fans from the new music, and then we get, like, fans from the old music, you know, and our crowd is very diverse, you know, young, old, and it's a beautiful thing. I mean, I really couldn't ask for anything more. And people are really discovering the band, you know, just through so many. Whether it's like their parents or a movie or a TV show or, like, you know. Plus, I just think, like, that that era of music is kind of coming back around again, you know, For a while, it wasn't very cool, and now it's cool, you know, so we'll take advantage of that. Why not? [00:05:48] Speaker B: Of course. Shit. [00:05:50] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:05:50] Speaker B: You have to. [00:05:52] Speaker A: Everybody is right now, you know, it's great. I mean, I'm seeing, like, Deftones is bigger than ever. [00:05:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:58] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:05:58] Speaker A: Corn's still doing it. Limp Bizkits, you know, coming back around again and killing it. And we're one of those bands, you know, from that era that's like, Lincoln Park's back, you know, I mean, it feels really good. We've been playing these festivals, you know, together, and you can't help but just be grateful and. And happy and excited for. For everybody, you know? [00:06:21] Speaker B: And I think that maybe your kind of band is like. Like historical, you know, you. You're part of a metal history. [00:06:30] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:30] Speaker B: And also when you're on stage, you keep the vibe. You keep the. The energy, the power. [00:06:35] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:36] Speaker B: Some bands are just using sounds with themselves, you know what I mean? And you are just playing for two. [00:06:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:43] Speaker B: And it's different. Maybe young people prefer this today. [00:06:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:47] Speaker C: Some beds are really relying on just their songs. [00:06:50] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:50] Speaker C: That you keep performing every time. [00:06:52] Speaker A: Yeah, we. We still throw down. I mean, I woke up this morning and I. I think I slept on my neck wrong. And I was like, oh, man. But, you know, the. The good thing is that once we get on stage, like, you don't feel anything because the adrenaline is, like, going. So I'll be. I'll be thrown down and maybe tomorrow I'll feel it. You know, I have. I'll have some beers and I'll feel all right, you know? [00:07:20] Speaker B: So you talk about pain. [00:07:23] Speaker A: Yeah, dude. [00:07:24] Speaker B: You talk about pain also in the band with the last song and the mental health. The. [00:07:29] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:29] Speaker B: You help people to. To be okay with themselves, you know, You. You help us. You help. You young people. You used to talk about a lot. Is that make you okay with yourself today, or is there still issues or. You know what I mean? [00:07:44] Speaker A: I mean, it's difficult. I have my own way of dealing with things, and I'm just very lucky that I get, like, being in this band is like. It's like a dream come true, you know, it's like my passion is music, and we've been able to do it for a really long time, but we do. We do experience a lot of pain, and we do Experience a lot of sacrifice, you know, and it can. You know, it can definitely with you and. But, like, I just. I have to, like, exercise, you know, I have to have, like, moments where I set aside time where it's just quiet. [00:08:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:24] Speaker A: You know what I mean? And I have a great family, and I've even gone to therapy. You know what I mean? You. You talk to somebody, you gotta be willing to reach out. You know what I mean? And so you also have to be willing to, like, shut off from social media, you know, like, there's a lot of negative shit out there, you know, and you gotta eat sometimes. It's like, you gotta eat right, you know? Sometimes I got. Sometimes I'm like, sober for months, you know? You know, but not. Not right now, you know? Thank for everything. It's a. It's a balance, you know? [00:09:00] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, of course. [00:09:00] Speaker A: Yeah. And. And it's like, you can't do it on your own, dude. You got to get help, you know, you get your friends, your family, you know? And I feel. Yeah, it's. I. It breaks my heart when you see people that are truly alone and they don't have anybody, you know what I mean? So I think that's where we come in. The music is giving them some hope, you know, the music is. Is giving them light at the end of the tunnel. [00:09:21] Speaker B: That's totally right. And what I would say is that when we see you on stage, there's the energy, but there's always the smiling. You always smile. Paparot is the band that is smiling. That's something really special we don't find anywhere else, I think. So. It's really nice to see, and I think it's a really huge power, you know? [00:09:45] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. It's like we're. We got that balance, you know, it's like we. We got. We have like the aggressive energy, you know what I mean? We want to up. We want to have a good time and we get serious and then we're like. Then we just want to have fun, you know, we want to smile, we want to laugh. We'll make you cry, you know, we'll make you shit your pants. I don't know. We just want to. All the emotions come out in the music, dude, so. [00:10:08] Speaker B: But it's beautiful. So there will be a new album. So you talk about your future and can you just tell us the last question is, do you remember the first festival or maybe first gig, if there's no festival, you see, when you were young, Metal one or. And what was your feeling at this moment. [00:10:29] Speaker A: My first concerts were not metal concerts. It wasn't until like our little. I guess the scene where we came, where we grew up was more like. Like we used to play really small clubs with like the Deftones and. And because we're all from the same area, Northern California, but it was like, that's. I don't know, I mean, we played [00:10:55] Speaker B: like, we would have. [00:10:56] Speaker A: We would throw on. We would put on concerts in our hometown and it would just be like a ska band, like a metal band, like a funk band, you know, like a hip hop band. It was just like a mix of everything, you know? Like, I like. Of course I liked like Metallica and stuff like that early on. [00:11:15] Speaker B: Yeah, okay. [00:11:16] Speaker A: But, yeah, I don't know, we're all over the place with our. With our influences, you know, and the types of music that we listen to. But I do remember one time, I think. I don't know if it was Hellfest, but we did play like probably like 2007. It was like we were. It was like Cannibal Corpse and it was like real, real metal. [00:11:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:38] Speaker A: Right in the middle. And we were, like, kind of nervous. We were thinking, like, man, this isn't going to go over well. But we were, like, pleasantly surprised. Like, we just went up there and we did our songs. We didn't try to like, change the set to be like heavier or anything. And I think at the end of the day, you just realize, like, people just. They just connect with good songs, you know, it doesn't have to be like the most brutal, you know, music. And. And our version of Heavy is different than another band's version of Heavy. [00:12:09] Speaker B: That's quite a lesson for life. Do whatever you want. If it's okay with the other ones. Don't fight. [00:12:16] Speaker A: That's not good. [00:12:17] Speaker B: So thank you for everything. Thank you for your music. Thank you for coming here and have a great moment. [00:12:23] Speaker A: Oh, we're going to have a good time tonight, dude. It's going to be fun. [00:12:25] Speaker B: And see you in December. [00:12:27] Speaker A: Lots of fire. It's going to be hot. I know. You know how it is here, dude. It's going to be fucking good time. This is one of the best. So we're excited to be back. [00:12:37] Speaker C: Cool. [00:12:38] Speaker B: Thank you so much. [00:12:46] Speaker A: Spotify, dessert, apple, Amazon.
