[00:00:01] Speaker A: Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. [00:00:09] Speaker B: Banger. [00:00:14] Speaker A: Chaos reigns. Nice, Nice. [00:00:26] Speaker B: How is your brother? [00:00:28] Speaker C: What does he do in the weekend? The Chariots. Every time I die in Dillinger, you will be the bastard sons of all these bands. I just called it. [00:00:54] Speaker B: Right. [00:00:57] Speaker A: We actually, we got the Dillinger reference yesterday, actually. This guy. This guy said he saw Dillinger recently and we were better. So I don't know. I don't believe him. I think he was lying. But, you know, it's a massive compliment. [00:01:31] Speaker C: The way I would describe your band is you see them live, you get just a punch, a huge punch in your face, and you go on Spotify and follow them. So it's not maybe through the music, but through first the live shows, because they are hectic, they are crazy. And I think it's the nicest way to be introduced to your band. [00:01:50] Speaker A: Oh, 100%. I think that's the ethos of the band is like, we write the music so we can play it live, you know? [00:01:56] Speaker B: Yeah. Similarly, there's so many bands who you listen to the music and you go, oh, this must be crazy. And I've seen it live and the band do nothing and. And then I don't know, no names. No names. So I've always thought that, right, I'm going to be in a band that actually deliver on that because sometimes, like, I can't think of any band names off top of my head. But when I've had that experience, it's put me off listening to them because I'm just like, oh, I'm not getting that experience. Whereas a band like Dillinger, I was watching them before I even liked their music because I was like, those shows are insane. And I just want to go and see the shows. And, you know, they're getting money from the tickets I'm paying, even if I'm not listening to them as much. But now I absolutely love them. And I hope that people come to see our shows, even if they're not massive fans of the music, just for the performance and the spectacle. [00:02:49] Speaker A: Yeah. I think what matters to me most is the connection of the live atmosphere, you know, like the ability to keep people entertained, to just put all of the emotion and the expression out there and just connect with people on, like, the most raw level, which I don't know if you can necessarily get through listening to a CD or a streaming platform. So, yeah, it's best enjoyed live. You know, some foods are best enjoyed. Certain ways our music is best enjoyed in a live space. [00:03:34] Speaker C: It feels like you're Looking for authenticity. Because a lot of bands are using huge productions. They have. They use synth, they use subs, etc. Etc. But in your music, we feel the opposite. Like going back straight to. To the root of metal. [00:03:50] Speaker B: Well, I've always thought, and this is my personal preference, so this isn't me saying one way is right or wrong. I have always believed that whatever you do in the studio, you should be able to do live, just because, once again, there's bands I've seen where I've heard something. And let's say if it's more of the, like, technical, advanced kind of stuff, I'm like, oh, I can't wait to see that live. And then it's on a backing track and I'm like, oh, well, I can put stuff on a backing track if we're going to play that game. And I like the spectacle. And not to harp on about Dillinger, but they're playing incredibly complicated stuff and still arguably the best live band there is. So it's like, if they can do it, what is everyone else's excuse? Why isn't everyone else behaving like that and performing like that? [00:04:30] Speaker A: I think there's something about, like, demonstrating musicianship in that way as well. Like, some people want to come for the mosh pit, some people actually want to come to watch the people play the instruments and hear all of the notes and all of the beats. And so we want to try and provide fur for everyone. And I don't necessarily know if you can get that from a backing track. Yeah, but no, no shade on backing tracks. [00:04:52] Speaker B: Also, just on another note that once you have a backing track on the song is predetermined how it's going to go. [00:04:59] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah. There's no freedom. Right. So I can't spend 30 seconds climbing the hell stage. And. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that happens. Apparently I'm the first person to do it, so that's. [00:05:10] Speaker B: Are you. [00:05:11] Speaker C: Were you the first person? [00:05:12] Speaker B: Hello, Guinness. [00:05:12] Speaker A: Yeah, no one's climbed the hell stage. Apparently. [00:05:35] Speaker C: You love Danger because we're not really sure about the security of that. [00:05:40] Speaker A: It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. So, yeah. [00:06:00] Speaker C: Because we are old pricks of metal. I mean, we are 40 years old. We've seen Dillinger live, we've seen Norma Jean, we've seen Convergence, the Chariot at the very beginning, etc. And for us, not playing with backing track is something normal, but for the younger generation, yourselves included, it's not something natural. This is our opinion. I mean, all the kids just. [00:06:20] Speaker A: When you said younger Generation. [00:06:22] Speaker C: You are younger than us. You know what I mean? It's just. I mean, all the kids. I used to have heavy backing tracks in music, but it's great to see young bands doing quite the opposite. [00:06:37] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I don't know if we necessarily did it because we wanted to do. To buck the trend, but it's just what feels right for us, I think. Yeah. [00:06:47] Speaker B: And I don't know, we saw Chatpol yesterday and they're four piece, one guitar, one bass, so heavy, so loud. And I know this might sound obvious, but I think, like, good musicianship just can really help. Like, you know, if your bassist and your drummer are super tight, it is gonna sound like a massive punch. And I don't know, I think that has so much more impact and meaning than just if you've programmed it to sound heavy. [00:07:17] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. I think you lose some of that rawness, some of that, like, intensity. And we're. Yeah, we've got that in spades. That's what we're all about, basically. [00:07:29] Speaker C: Don't you think you are the real artist in this festival? [00:07:32] Speaker B: Yes. Next question. [00:07:36] Speaker A: That's an an. [00:07:39] Speaker B: I will not elaborate. [00:07:46] Speaker C: Yeah, you don't need all the glitters to make your performance awesome, which is great. [00:07:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I guess it is. In a lot of ways it is quite simplistic, our approach, but, yeah, it just feels right. Like, I mean, I'll be honest with you, there is like, a little bit of imposter syndrome for us being here, because it's our first time playing a festival like this size. It's our first time playing outside of the UK as well. It's our first time playing France and it was just like. [00:08:15] Speaker B: It's. [00:08:15] Speaker A: We've taken off so many firsts that we're like. And now we're doing an interview and I'm like, trained to do this. Yeah. [00:08:30] Speaker C: It's the first time in France, first time at Hellfest. When you see quite a festival here, do you just wish to do more and come back here more often? [00:08:38] Speaker A: Right. [00:08:38] Speaker B: Oh, honestly, definitely now, because we've experienced the side of stage life. Like, I'm not queuing again. [00:08:46] Speaker A: Yeah, no, honestly, as soon as we came off the stage, I was like, do you want us to play anywhere else? Like, we can do like, four more sets. Like. [00:08:56] Speaker B: Corner Reel. We'll do it. [00:08:57] Speaker A: Yeah, like, if someone pulls out, we'll go, we're good. We'll do it right again. Yeah, we're ready. [00:09:06] Speaker C: So you are staying for the four days. Have you seen friends or bands? You. You were wanting Wanting to see. And you. You. You rush into or. [00:09:15] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. I mean, so. So there's a couple of, like, Frank Carter and the Sex Pistols tonight. Big one. Obviously you've got Knock Loose and Turnstile here as well. This. The lineup of this festival is insane. Like, I was at Download Festival last weekend. It's a good festival. Festival, probably like the UK's best heavy metal festival. But this, like, the lineup of this is. Is even better than that. I'm like, wow, the French maybe can do it better. [00:09:41] Speaker C: Boom. We're going to throw the stick. [00:09:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:57] Speaker C: He's like. He's like, I wanted to see you guys live. And, yeah, I wanted to see them live yesterday, but I missed it. [00:10:01] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, yeah, we've got videos, got photos, so you can. You can. You're gonna have to. You're gonna have to check out the slideshow. Yeah, yeah, the slideshow. We'll give you a PowerPoint presentation. [00:10:10] Speaker B: Also, if the Hellfest booking agent is working, you can always do next year and then you can watch us. [00:10:14] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, yeah. Just ask the organizers to bring us back just for you guys. So there you go. [00:10:24] Speaker C: So we are closing this interview with a video clip, music video clip you would like to share with us. It can be new, it can be old, but as much as it resembles you, it's the only thing we ask. [00:10:35] Speaker A: Okay, I'm using video clip and not from you. Oh, a clip from us. No, not from you, not from us. The music video clip that represents us for me. [00:10:45] Speaker B: Dillinger. Dillinger. [00:10:46] Speaker A: Virgin Megastore 2002, I think probably. Yeah. Yeah, that was a great year. So that's that. Whenever we're playing a show, I basically just. I will watch that video a few times on repeat. And like, that gets me in the modes and I'm like, okay, cool, I'm ready. And then I go out and walk on the heads. Yeah. That's basically why I joined this band. So that one day I can. I can. [00:11:09] Speaker B: There's that video as well. Because there's like. Most of my friends aren't really into heavy music, so the idea of. Who Dylan Gerard. They don't know. So I just. Just watch this clip and it's just. It's like scaring the hose is the phrase I believe, isn't it? [00:11:26] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:11:27] Speaker B: It's just mad showing people, like, you know, like, I. I love to be. [00:11:31] Speaker A: Seen to be believed. [00:11:32] Speaker B: I love pop music as well, but you don't. It's just all very rehearsed and choreographed and to show someone that. Who's never seen hardcore. Oh, my God. They can do that. That's. [00:11:41] Speaker A: That's a thing. Yeah, that is a thing. Yeah, yeah, that's it. It's all about it has to be seen to be believed. Just like chaos reigns. Yeah, yeah. [00:11:50] Speaker C: Mercibu Coupian France. Thank you very much, guys. I hopefully see you very soon in France. [00:11:55] Speaker B: Thank you. [00:12:00] Speaker A: Chronic.
